Leighton Moss - Red Deer Rut
08th October 2008
In: Events
October sees the start of the rutting season, a period when the male Stags round up female Hinds. The Stag announces his superiority by literally bellowing out an incredible roar.
Having had an enjoyable day at Leighton around 3.30pm the Stags began their calling. There seemed to be 3 consistently bellowing for around 3 hours when I left due to the onset of darkness.
The late afternoon Autumn light provided a great opportunity to photograph these impressive animals.
