Low Level Aviation Diary 2010

01st March 2010
January

A couple of visits in January in what can only be described as artic conditions. No frontliner activity for me but at least the guys from Valley were flying. The Hawk pictures were taken from Bwlch Exit.

February

A couple of visits in February, one to the Bwlch Exit and the other to Corris. Both days were once again freezing cold but also saw some good frontliner
Corris

There was an army of people on Cad West the day the Typhoon came through, sadly for them he rather unusually flew straight over the top of them at circa 1000ft then dropped into the Valley. Also on that day several Harriers exited Bwlch only to turn right for Bala, much to the angst of the masses on Cad - oh well..........

BwlchExit

A chilly day spent on the Exit with some great winter light.

March

BwlchExit

A day that felt like spring was just around the corner with a warm sun making a welcome change from the bitter January and February in the Welsh hills. A good day with an F15 making a welcome appearance for those on the Bwlch or Bwlch Exit as he turned for Bala (oops). Tornado's were showing well with 2 pairs from the day which also included a Hercules. I haven't included any pictures of the Herc as the Exit doesn't seem to suit it photographically, one turning into Cad West is the place to get them.

While much of the winter snow had gone Snowdon still had a topping and I was delighted to be able to get the F15 coming out of the Exit with Snowdon behind. An opportunity that may never present itself again so I suspect it will become one of my favourite images of the year.

April

One visit to Cad and one to a spot just in front of the Bwlch this month.
