SEOs Galore at Parkgate High Tide - February 2011

05th March 2011
In: Events

The 19th, 20th and 21st February saw three consecutive days of over 10m high tides. While an easterly wind was present throughout the marsh flooded on all 3 days, although not to the extent witnessed previously. As always with the 10m high tides the area around Parkgate Old Baths was popular with spectators, bird watchers and photographers alike.

Interestingly, the marsh flooded some 30 minutes after the published high tide. This is a useful reference as the published data, being for Hilbre Island or Liverpool, are of course further west so it take longer to reach the Parkgate area. Sadly, many people started to leave at the time of the published high tide and missed the actual event.
